Đurić: Serbia and UAE Continue to Strengthen Strategic Partnership

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić met today with Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, with whom he opened the first round of bilateral political consultations between the two Ministries of Foreign Affairs.

Minister Đurić expressed his confidence that the bilateral political consultations would make a significant contribution to further intensifying dialogue between Serbia and the UAE and provide a valuable platform for exchanging views on key bilateral and international issues of mutual interest.

He emphasised that relations between the two countries, founded on friendship, mutual respect and understanding, have reached their highest level with the establishment of the strategic partnership and the signing of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement. He added that the intensive political dialogue and close personal relations between President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and President of the UAE Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan have provided further impetus to the development of bilateral relations.

Turning to economic cooperation, Đurić highlighted the importance of UAE investment to the Serbian economy, with particular emphasis on cooperation in the energy sector, especially in the field of renewable energy.

Speaking about Serbia’s foreign policy priorities, Đurić emphasised that advancing regional cooperation and good-neighbourly relations, while preserving peace and stability and strengthening economic ties, remain among Serbia’s key priorities. In this context, he underscored the importance of Serbia’s active participation in regional initiatives and forums aimed at fostering cooperation and supporting the overall development of the Western Balkans.

Đurić also highlighted the preservation of economic stability as an important priority for Serbia, alongside continued efforts to attract investment, sustain economic growth and foster a favourable environment for the further development of economic cooperation with international partners.

He expressed his satisfaction with the UAE’s confirmed participation in Expo 2027 in Belgrade, noting that the UAE’s experience in preparing and hosting an Expo would be of considerable value to Serbia.

The Serbian Foreign Minister expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in bilateral relations and noted that Serbia would be particularly pleased to welcome UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on a visit in the period ahead.
