Your Gateway to the Global Tokenized Asset Ecosystem”
— Randy Goldberg
MIAMI, FL, UNITED STATES, August 24, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The STO Foundation, also known as The Tokenized Asset Foundation, today announced that Mark Mariampillai, founder and CEO of digital assets consultancy Tokuti, has joined the organization as Executive Director.

Mark is a former CEO of the Gibraltar Stock Exchange blockchain division and currently serves as Global Business Development Lead at DigiShares and Strategic Advisor at Valereum Plc. For the last eight years he has been building and advising real-world asset tokenization platforms, virtual asset service providers and issuers worldwide. He continues to lead Tokuti and retains commercial RWA mandates across the Middle East, the Americas and the Caribbean, bringing the Foundation a leader who is active in live transactions.

In his new role he will lead the Foundation's strategy, global membership development, industry partnerships, buy-side initiatives, treasury protocol and programs supporting the responsible growth of tokenized capital markets.

“Mark brings the rare combination of traditional capital-markets experience, technical understanding and hands-on digital asset leadership that the Foundation needs at this stage of its development,” said Randy Goldberg, President of the Foundation. “Through Tokuti and his client mandates he is closing tokenization deals across multiple jurisdictions continually, and that operating perspective is exactly what a standards and education body needs at its head. His ability to work across financial institutions, infrastructure providers, issuers and emerging technologies makes him the right leader for our next phase of growth. Under Mark's direction, we will strengthen the Foundation as a trusted global platform for education, collaboration, professional standards, buy-side engagement and practical market development.”

Two Decades in Institutional Capital Markets
Mark began his career in institutional capital markets in 2004. Between 2004 and 2012 he held roles across Citadel, ING Bank, KBC Hedge Fund, Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander, Reuters and Northern Trust — experience spanning both the buy-side and the sell-side, and covering trading and market infrastructure, operating models, data and financial technology, business analysis and project management.

From 2012 to 2022 he held senior roles at Credit Suisse and HSBC, leading large-scale change programs across regulatory compliance, digital transformation and the implementation of blockchain and distributed ledger solutions within complex, highly regulated environments. It is the combination of front-to-back capital markets experience and early institutional blockchain delivery that defines his approach to tokenization today.

At the Gibraltar Stock Exchange — a regulated exchange operating in the first jurisdiction in the world to introduce a purpose-built regulatory framework for distributed ledger technology providers — Mark was responsible for building the group's digital financial market infrastructure and led GATENet, the venture created to support compliant issuance and trading of digital securities across multiple asset classes, blockchain networks and marketplaces. It remains one of the earliest and most substantive attempts anywhere to bring tokenized securities inside a regulated exchange perimeter rather than alongside it.

An Active Industry Voice
Mark is a frequent keynote speaker, panelist and moderator across the tokenization industry. In June 2026 he delivered a keynote address on Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands at Fintech on the Seas, the digital assets conference curated by BVI Finance under the patronage of the Government of the Virgin Islands (British), where he set out a three-pillar digital asset strategy for the territory covering tokenized property deeds, cultural assets as real-world assets, and a sovereign digital asset treasury. Tokuti is an ecosystem partner of BVI Finance, and Mark has maintained ties to the territory since 2006.

His areas of expertise include:
• Real-world asset tokenization and digital securities
• Capital-markets and financial-market infrastructure
• Buy-side and sell-side institutional engagement
• Blockchain-based issuance, clearing and settlement
• Regulatory-aware digital asset strategy across multiple jurisdictions
• Cultural asset tokenization across sports, music and entertainment
• Issuer structuring and investor access
• Market liquidity and compliant distribution
• MENA, Gulf, Caribbean and Latin American market development
• Public speaking, moderation and industry convening

A Global Vision for the Foundation
“Tokenization is moving from early experimentation toward real institutional adoption, and this next phase will be defined by execution, trust and collaboration,” said Mark Mariampillai, Executive Director of the STO Foundation. “I have spent the last eight years on the delivery side of this industry — inside a regulated exchange, inside tokenization platforms, and through Tokuti inside the mandates themselves. My vision is for the Foundation to become the place where the global industry comes together to move from discussion to delivery.”
