UAE Denies Transferring Billions to Iran as 'Entirely False'
In an official statement, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs characterized the allegations as "entirely false and unfounded," asserting that no frozen Iranian funds had been released, transferred, or facilitated through the UAE in any capacity.
The rebuttal followed reports by several international media outlets, citing unnamed sources, which claimed the UAE had agreed to unlock billions of dollars for Iran as part of broader diplomatic efforts to bring the US-Israeli conflict with Iran to a close. Those reports cited varying figures, suggesting the arrangement ranged between 10 billion and 20 billion dollars, with at least 3 billion dollars allegedly already made available — possibly in exchange for Iran halting its attacks against the UAE.
Since the United States and Israel launched large-scale strikes against Iran on Feb. 28, the UAE has been subjected to repeated Iranian retaliatory strikes, with the most recent reported on May 4–5.
