Putin meets with Abu Dhabi’s crown prince
"We have offered the president two dates to choose from for a visit in August of this year," Putin said, expressing his hopes that UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan will attend the upcoming Russia-Arab League summit scheduled for October 15 in Moscow.
Putin characterized the new trade deal as a major achievement, stating that it will eliminate 85% of tariffs on a wide range of goods. "This will certainly help harmonize and further expand our trade and economic ties," he added.
During the meeting, the Russian president thanked the crown prince for taking part in the summit, stating he was "delighted to see" him and asked that he pass along his greetings and good wishes to the UAE president.
In recent months, the UAE and the EAEU, under Russia’s leadership, have ramped up their economic engagement. The newly signed agreement is seen as a significant step in Russia's broader strategy to strengthen global trade relations amid continuing sanctions imposed by Western countries.
